Stupidly, i left-clicked on the disenchant item button before my mental processes had enough time to verify the repercussions of such an action. The result: that wonderful maul, 2 handed with all its super nice dmg (which low-lvls can use) has been reduced to a 5 units of strange dust. GAH! I momentarily forgot that i had a paladin called lightsabre(yes i know, stupid name) but i must vent out my frustration at this rash act!!
